Growing up.....

Garrett has always had trouble staying in the nursery the past 2 years.  He would stay a few times with people he was truly comfortable with.  We have started getting him familiar with the 2/3 year old class since he will be 2 next month and they said he could go ahead and come in there.  But last week, he didn't want any part of it and wouldn't go.  We figured it would take some time and us being there with him for him to get used to it.  But today he surprised us and made us proud.  He went to the 2/3 year old class for Sunday School and stayed through all of church.  They said he didn't even whine or cry when Eric left.  When we picked him up, they said he was very good and we even got his first Sunday School papers.  sniff, sniff.  Our little man is growing up.

Catching up...

I have gotten way behind on blogging.  It's been so busy/crazy around here.  I have so many new pictures to post, that I don't know where to begin!  We had a great Easter.  Garrett was not very cooperative with the Egg Hunt and taking pictures, considering his nap schedule got thrown WAY off course the entire weekend.  I think his nap time is slowly moving itself which will be good for all of us in the end (as long as he still takes one).  He is so funny these days.  His answer to EVERYTHING is now "I don't know" (in his own language of course, but you can tell what he is saying).  It's so cute.  He knows where most of his body parts are when you call them out to him he will point to it.  The other day, I was calling out to him and he pointed to everything (eyes, nose, mouth, ears, arms, hands, legs, feet, belly button) but then I said, "where's your elbow" and he said, "I don't know".  At least he's honest.  :)  The weather last week was very scary.  Garrett go to visit the basement for the first time due to tornado threat.  He did very well and luckily we didn't have to stay long.  We are praying for all of those affected by the storm.  I hope to post some new pictures soon.  At least of Easter.  :)

Valentine's Day Catch Up

I realized that I forgot to post on Valentine's Day.  I had a wonderful Valentine's Day this year.  My wonderful hubby and I went out on a date Friday night to Joe's Italian in Alabaster.  It was SOO good and we can't wait to go back.  Monday, I received a beautiful Open Heart Key necklace.  Eric had to work so me and my sweet baby boy got dressed and went to Chick-Fil-A for our Valentine's date.  We had a good time.  I'm so thankful for my 2 Valentine's.

Little Worshipper, Little Helper and a Growing Vocabulary

I love watching Garrett in church.  Most of the time we have to take him out due to his inability to keep quiet.  But he loves the music.  He will clap his hands and even raise them praising the Lord.  Last Sunday we had to stay home from church so we were watching Gardendale First Baptist on TV.  He laid in the floor watching the praise and worship portion and listening to the music.  Then all of a sudden he stood up and raised his hand.  When the music was over, he clapped and raised his hand again.  This touched my heart so much.  He may not fully understand but it thrills my heart watching him "learn" and I can't wait for the day when he understands and makes that personal choice to worship our Lord and Savior.  And I know he will.

Garrett is also becoming quite the "Little Helper".  He loves playing with the broom and sweeping the kitchen floor.  This morning I was sitting on the couch folding his clothes.  Usually when there are clothes on the couch, he will grab a piece or 2 and carry it around the house.  Today, I folded his clothes and had them in 3 stacks.  I carried 2 stacks to his room to put away.  As I made my way back to the living room, he met me halfway holding the 3rd stack (still folded) in both hands and handed it to me.  It was so sweet.  Of course he had to clap for himself that he had done a good job.  :)

I love hearing Garrett's vocabulary grow.  His jibberish is so cute but there are times when he is really telling us something and we just wish we knew what was going on inside that cute "little" head.  But aside from his first words "Mama" and Da-Da" he now says "shoe", "uh-oh", "da-chu" (thank you), "nuts", "hot", and as of last night, "wow".

19 months old!

Garrett was 19 months old last Thursday, the 17th!  Time is flying so fast.  In the past month, 2 more teeth started coming in.  This is very good news to us since his teeth have been coming in very slowly and he only has his front teeth right now.  He has also started saying "Thank You", which is so cute.  Of course his version is "Da-chu".  But he says it when he's supposed too.  He is so sweet and so smart and we are just amazed by him everyday.  He also reached another milestone.  Wednesday night he stayed in the nursery at church and didn't cry.  This is also great news because he is very clingy to Mommy and Daddy and doesn't like staying with anyone else, unless he's at home.  He continues to amaze us everyday with new things he does or says.  This morning, I had a small heater on in the living room and he walked over and squatted down in front of it and said, "Hot!".  He's so smart.  Here are some new pictures taken in the past couple of months.

Dancing man...

Garrett loves watching the Fresh Beat Band.  He has a couple of songs that he will dance too every now and then.  This particular day, he was getting down to Stomp the House.  So glad I had the camera close by.  :)

More Snow in Alabama........

I cannot believe how much it has snowed in the past 2 months.  Are we still in Alabama??  It has snowed 5 times in the last 3 years.  Crazy!  But it's just a sign of the times................here are a few pictures from the snow on January 10.  Garrett is still not sure what to think about it all but he had fun watching Daddy slide on the ice.  He was glad to get back inside where it was warm.
